| L’aéroport
de Jérusalem s’étend le long de la route qui
relie Jérusalem à Ramallah. Occupé par l’armée
israélienne depuis 1967, à 5 km de Ramallah et 10 km
de Jérusalem, Nahed Awwad a vu grandir à l’extrémité est
de la piste d’atterrissage poussiéreuse, un des plus
important check point vers la Cisjordanie. Pourtant, elle découvre
qu’il n’en a pas toujours été ainsi, et
ce lieu aujourd’hui dévasté a connu, comme bien
des escales internationales des années 50-60, la vie fastueuse
et libre du voyage. Les images joyeuses et autres témoignages
du passé contrastent amèrement avec ceux du présent
où le terrain d’aviation est interdit d’accès
et reste à l’abandon derrière des barbelés
et bientôt, derrière le mur de séparation israélien. Jerusalem Airport lies at the side of the road that runs from Jerusalem to Ramallah. Occupied by the Israeli army since 1967, 5 km from Ramallah and 10 km from Jerusalem, Nahed Awwad has seen one of the largest access checkpoints to the West Bank grow up at the eastern end of the dusty runway. However, she discovers that this has not always been the case and that this desolate setting, like many other international stopovers in the fifties and sixties, once knew the lavish and free life of travel. Merry images and bright accounts of the past contrast bitterly with those of the present in which the airfield is off limits, abandoned behind the barbed wire and, soon, behind the Israeli wall of separation. |

| Nahed Awwad travaille à l’Institut
des médias modernes de Ramallah comme monteuse puis comme
formatrice en montage. Elle travaille avec des réalisateurs
palestiniens et des artistes (Michel Khleifi, Khalil Rabah, Vera
Tamari). En 2002, elle commence à réaliser ses propres
films. Nahed Awwad works at the Institute for Modern Media in Ramallah as an editor and then as an editing instructor. She works with a number of Palestinian directors and artists (Michel Khleifi, Khalil Rabah, Vera Tamari). In 2002, she begins directing her own films. |
